WELCOME TO THE OUT OF SCHOOL CARE PROGRAMME
Enrolment
- Enrolment is finalised upon completion of an enrolment form and the signing of the parent/caregiver contract. Please inform staff of any relevant changes to your enrolment details. It is crucial we have up-to-date information.
Afternoon Tea
- To be provided by parents/caregivers. Snack packs can be purchased, see Co-ordinator or Assistant.
Absences
- Once your child/tamariki's name is on the roll, we expect him/her to be at the programme unless we have been notified by the parent/caregiver. Making a quick phone call to the Co-ordinator's mobile phone before 2.30pm easily does this. Please leave a message on voicemail. If we have not been notified and your child does not arrive we will do everything we can to locate her/him. Your child/tamariki's safety is paramount to us!
Collecting Your Child/Tamariki
- If a person arrives to collect your child/tamariki whose name is not on your enrolment form, then we are obliged (for your child/tamariki's safety) to keep your child in our care until you have been located for consent. To save embarrassment for all concerned, we would appreciate prior notification from you on this matter. Please remember that the programme closes at 5.30pm.
Signing Your Child/Tamariki In And Out
- Each day when you collect your child/tamariki, you must sign your child out in the daily roll book. The Co-ordinator will show you where this is. We need to know that your child/tamariki has gone home safely. On holiday programmes, you will also have to sign your child/tamariki in.
Unwell Children
- Please do not send along unwell children/nga tamariki, as we do not have the facilities to care for them. If a child/tamariki becomes ill during programme hours, parents/caregivers and/or emergency contacts will be called and asked to collect them.
Behaviour Management
- We use behaviour management techniques that encourage positive self esteem development. It is our goal to ensure that children/nga tamariki and families experience an environment where they are safe, secure, respected and their dignity is protected. This is done through the use of positive reinforcement and a stimulating and varied programme to ensure against boredom. Every effort will be made to help your child/tamariki settle into the programe. However, if a child/tamariki's behaviour is consistently harmful to the other children/nga tamariki, parents/caregivers will be asked to remove him/her from the programme
Notice Board
- Please check the notice board regularly. Information and requests will be posted there.
Hats
- Our programme is a sunsmart programme and a hat must be provided for outside activities during term one and term four.
Emergencies
- Our staff is training to deal with emergencies. In the case of a serious accident involving your child/tamariki the staff will contact you and take your child/tamariki to the nearest medical facility. In a civil emergency the staff will remain at the school until all children/nga tamariki are collected.
